Iván Argote

IVÁN ARGOTE is a Colombian artist and filmmaker, known for his conceptual works that explore themes of power, memory, politics and social dynamics. His work spans various media including video, sculpture, installation, photography and performance art. Each work in Argote’s SKIN series is made up of several concrete slabs tinted in different colors. This series results from Argote’s long-term research on the history of ideologies, the notion of monuments and their impact on the formation of subjectivities. The fragmentation of words and texts in this series is a gesture against political slogans, which sometimes have been used to instill anger and resentment.
